In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency, Dr. Sokari Ibifuro Francis, the Sole Administrator of Degema Local Government Area, has announced the implementation of a 'no work, no pay' policy for civil servants within the Council.
During an interactive session with Council staff on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, Dr. Francis expressed his commitment to improving the welfare of employees by ensuring a fair and responsible work ethic. He highlighted the Council's significant expenditure on workers' salaries, emphasizing that non-attendance at work would no longer be tolerated.
Moreover, Dr. Francis made a bold pledge to prioritize the timely payment of staff salaries, declaring that employees would receive their dues before he himself receives his salary. He directed the Council's treasurer to prioritize the disbursement of salaries to workers before any other financial considerations.
Addressing the substandard working conditions faced by staff, Dr. Francis vowed to swiftly replace damaged office furniture and facilities. He acknowledged the unfortunate situation where employees work in inadequate office spaces and assured a rapid overhaul to create a more conducive work environment.
Additionally, Mr. Jemina Erekosima, the Chairman of Delga chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), expressed full support for the administration and praised the Sole Administrator for issuing Easter bonuses to staff. He affirmed the union's commitment to ensuring staff members' consistent presence at their workplace to boost productivity.
This new directive marks a significant shift towards accountability and employee welfare under Dr. Francis's leadership at Degema Local Government Area. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing initiative.
