The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has responded to claims made by former Governor Chief Rufus Ada George regarding the political situation in the state. In a press release signed by party Chairman Sir (Chief) Tony Chidugam Okocha, DSSRS, JP, the APC disputed Chief Rufus Ada George's allegations and highlighted his past governance.

The press release stated, "Rivers people cannot forget in a hurry, the level of inter-communal crisis with all the trappings of ethnic cleansing which was the hallmark of his government within the short time it lasted." It further highlighted the alleged violence and conflicts that occurred during Chief Rufus Ada George's tenure.

Regarding allegations linking Honourable Minister Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to the current political crisis in Rivers State, the press release declared, "The allegations made by Chief Rufus Ada George against the FCT Minister, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, are complete falsehood, and tissues of lies, just to misrepresent the facts." It defended Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike's efforts to promote peace and resolve the crisis in the state.

The press release also questioned Chief Rufus Ada George and his associates' actions during critical moments of the political crisis. It challenged their response to the burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex and the conduct of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Furthermore, the press release criticized Chief Rufus Ada George and his group for their alleged involvement in prolonging the political crisis for personal gain. It highlighted their opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's intervention and subsequent legal challenges.

In conclusion, the press release commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State to maintain law and order. It implied that this intervention thwarted the selfish agenda of Chief Rufus Ada George and his associates.
