On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the Honourable Member, Hon. (Barr.) Lolo Isaiah Opuende, representing the Akuku-Toru Constituency II, attended the 109th Legislative sitting of the Rivers State House of Assembly. During the session, the assembly conducted the first reading of the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
The bill was presented by Hon. Justina Emeji, Member representing Emohua Constituency, and Hon. Nkemjika Ezekwe, Member representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency 2. Their intention with the bill is to repeal the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission Amendment Law No. 3 of 2006 and make further amendments to the Principal Law of 1999 and other associated matters.
Hon. Emeji highlighted that the bill consists of seven clauses and, if passed, will be named the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission (Amendment) Law, 2024. Following the presentation, the bill proceeded to the first reading stage.
