Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara forwarded a letter to the House, requesting the screening and confirmation of the nominees in accordance with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended. Following a thorough screening process, the House has successfully fulfilled its constitutional duty by confirming all the nominees.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule expressed strong dissatisfaction with the disrespectful and uncooperative behaviour exhibited by the government house staff towards receiving mail from the Assembly. He firmly warned that the House will refuse to accept correspondence from the Governor if this behaviour persists, emphasising the House's commitment to consistently transmit resolutions to the Governor's office.
Hon. Lolo Isaiah Opuende, representing Akuku-Toru Constituency II, expressed his confidence in the confirmed nominees, highlighting their expertise and experience. He firmly believes that these commissioners can significantly contribute to the development and progress of the state. Additionally, Hon. Lolo emphasised that the confirmation process strictly complied with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended (Section 192), ensuring the legally sound conduct of executive appointments.
Hon. Lolo also emphasised the need to address the issues of recalcitrant behaviour and lack of courtesy to foster a more harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches.
