Many are feared dead in a midnight raid on two villages in Numan local government area of Adamawa state by suspected herdsmen.
A local source, Lawrence Shinkoko, told our reporter that the suspected herdsmen in large numbers, laid siege on Shaforon and Kodumti villages around 1:00am on Sunday, shooting from house to house.
Two dead bodies have so far been officially confirmed, and several others wounded; among them a soldier, according to the Principal Medical Officer of Numan General Hospital, Dr. Nuhu Tari.
The state police command, through its spokesman, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, has confirmed the attack; but gave the identity of the attackers as cattle rustlers.
“One of the attackers was killed I’m the crossfire with security operatives and his corpse has been deposited at the Numan mortuary.
“The CP has dispatched additional operatives to join other security agencies to comb the bushes in the area and arrest the fleeing cattle rustlers”, he said.
