Peoples' Democratic Party chairmanship hopeful in Asari Toru local government area in the June 16th local government elections in Rivers State, Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich has advised ward executive members of the party in the area to be resolute in their commitment to ensuring that the right candidates emerge as councillors and Chairman in the forthcoming polls.

Honourable Sobomabo Jackrich popularly known as Egberipapa, who gave the charge when he led scores of supporters, as well as party stalwarts and chiefs to visit all PDP Ward executives in Asalga in a Ward-by-Ward-Tour to fashion out a way to achieving a violent free primaries and election in the area, noted that the in-depth love for the L.G.A is paramount and that no one should gamble with politicians who are only available at the time of elections and will never care about the well-being of the people afterwards.

Egberi Papa while noting it was unpatriotic for any politician in the area to deploy a divisive means that will encourage youth restiveness such as inviting miscreants, hoodlums, thugs and the likes from outside the ASALGA territory during electioneering period to hijack the electoral process or fake popularity such as was the case in the recently burged PDP ward, delegates and councillorship primaries in the area, maintained that such move will cause violence and create social instability in the communities.

Honourable Jackrich who further reiterated the position of Governor Nyesom Wike on ensuring that party faithful conduct themselves peacefully and work to ensure that only the popular candidates emerged at the polls, wondered why some of the aspirants will resort to hiring strangers and different ethnic nationalities to the ASALGA territory to perpetuate violence. He advised other aspirants to quit desperation but rather show their popularity by mobilizing for the people to choose their leaders by themselves.

Egberi Papa however maintained that it was a known fact that the victory and strength of the PDP in ASALGA is hinged on his sacrificial service and that of his teaming supporters including the ward executive members, NGOs, action groups and party faithful.

Sobomabo Jackrich noted that the landmark achievements of Governor Wike in all the nuke and cranny of the state and the leadership quality of the state party chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah has paved the way for a smooth victory for the PDP in the forthcoming LGA polls.

He commended the state governor and the State PDP executives for averting the crisis that would have ensued in the area by swiftly postponing the April 17th councillorship primaries.

While reassuring that working to ensure the success of Governor Wike's second term bid and the enthronement of a PDP candidate as the president of Nigeria in 2019 were his passion, he further assured that he will be able to adopt and implement the Governor Wike’s model of project delivery in the LGA and attract more supporters into the PDP fold if elected as the executive chairman of the area.

He assured that creating peace, equity, unity and reconciling the aggrieved members of the party in the LGA are part of his top priorities, if given the chance to lead the people.

The press statement was signed by Abraham Ebini, S.A Media to Hon. Amb. Sobomabo Jackrich, Chairmanship Hopeful, Asari Toru Local Government Area on June 20th, 2018
